William Keith Scheel

February 15, 1953 — May 28, 2017

William (Bill) Keith Scheel, age 64, passed away on May 28, 2017, in Punta Gorda, Florida, with his beloved sisters at his bedside. Born on February 15, 1953 in Flushing, New York, he was a long time resident of Long Island, New York, spending the majority of his life in Massapequa. He was the son of the late William Scheel and the late Sonja Scheel Chapulis (Nee Magnuson).
Bill graduated from Farmingdale Senior High School in 1971 and from Adelphi University in 1976 with a BA in English. He spent most of his career in auto parts sales for Pennzoil and Quaker State, followed by a stint as an internet store owner and purveyor of fine watches.
Prior to his death, Bill completed several items on his “bucket list” including a long-anticipated move to Florida, a family cruise to the Caribbean, and a fishing trip with his son, James.
Always an avid fisherman and golfer in life, Bill plans to catch the “big one” that will not get away and break par in Heaven.
Bill was a devoted father to his two sons, James William Scheel of Bay Shore, NY and Eric Keith Scheel of Nesconset, NY and a cherished brother of Virginia Lee (Brian) Lewis of Woodbridge, VA and Karen Jennifer (Christopher) Holley of West Hartford, CT. He enjoyed being a loving uncle to Joshua William Floyd (Vanessa) Lewis of Winchester, VA; Zachary Scheel Lewis of Bluff City, TN; Gabrielle Solveig (Gregory) Winningham of Woodbridge, VA; Jordan Elizabeth and Kiersten Grace Holley of West Hartford, CT. He was also the proud great-uncle of Benjamin Barlie and Teresa Hope Lewis, both of Winchester, VA. Bill leaves behind many close friends, especially Eric Kochanski of Stuart, FL, and his cherished pug, Eddie, of Woodbridge, VA.
