Thure Grannas

Thure Grannas,93, passed into eternal life on January 29, 2019.  He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Gunveig (Margaret), two children: Susan, and Eric (Susan), three grandchildren: Christi (Shannon), Patrick (Theresa), and Timothy,  and three great-grandchildren: Abigael, Rebecka and Kaiden.  Thure was born in Lappfjard, Finland.  He was the first in his family to graduate high school and emigrated to New York in 1950.  He worked as Vice-President of Finance for a Finnish paper importing company.  His retirement was spent traveling, fishing, and enjoying time spent with family and close friends.  Especially enjoyable for him were years spent at Lake Wallenpaupack, PA, and Fort Myers FL.  Thure played the violin and loved to play Scandinavian folk music.  He will be remembered for his devotion to family, his wonderful sense of humor and his absolute integrity. Reposing Saturday, February 2nd from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at the Charles G. Schmitt Funeral Home Inc., 3863 Merrick Rd., Seaford (2 Traffic Lts. East of Rte. 135).  A private cremation will take place on Monday, February 4th.
