Thomas Ellis Gittins, aged 98, of Seaford, New York, passed away November 27, 2021, from natural causes. Thomas was born on November 12, 1923 in New York City. Thomas is a distinguished Purple Heart recipient who served his country in the Army Infantry. He served in the Normandy invasion and Rhineland in the European Theater during World War II. He worked in sales for 25 years and after retiring took on a second career with the Department of Public Safety within the Nassau County Police Department.

Thomas was a kind, loving and compassionate man.  He was happily married to Ellen Gittins for 49 years and adored animals and walking along Jones Beach in any season. He was known for lighting up the room with a joke or singing Frank Sinatra songs.

Thomas is survived by his brother, Jack Gittins, daughter, Susan Gittins, and his granddaughter, Ellen Gerlach. He was preceded in death by his wife Ellen Gittins and his son Thomas Leonard Gittins.
