Richard S. Olsen

Richard S. "Dick” Olsen, on November 7, 2024, aged 75, of Riverhead, NY. Long time Seaford resident for 41 years. Dick spent 6 years as a Sergeant in the National Guard and was activated for the mail strike of 1970. Devoted husband to wife, Barbara (nee Brennan) for over 51 years.  Loving father to daughter Kate Dietz (Bill) and sons Michael and Andrew (Emily).  Fun “Pop Pop” to William, Emma, Cara, Llewyn, Mercer and Mabel. Brother of Rod, Patricia, Karen, Robert, and Dorothy. Dick grew up in Massapequa and graduated A.G. Berner H.S. in ’67. He attended St. John’s University where he achieved an Associate Degree.  Longtime Telephone Co. Cable Splicer in Queens and Nassau where he made many friends.  He enjoyed coaching the Our Lady of Lourdes, Massapequa Park football team throughout the ‘70’s.  Celebration of Life Service Tuesday from 4-8 pm at the Charles G. Schmitt Funeral Home, Inc., 3863 Merrick Rd., Seaford (2 Traffic Lts. East of Rte. 135) Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday 9:30 AM at St. William The Abbot R.C. Church, Seaford.
