Richie enjoyed learning about history including the Civil War and WWII. His favorite vacation destination was Gettysburg PA. He was an avid fan of Game of Thrones and Walking Dead and was joyful discussing plot developments with everyone he met. His most cherished role was caretaker to his Mother during her final years with dementia, and caretaker and best friends with his special needs brother, Demond, whose favorite phrase will always be “Richie makes new magic box” and “Richie makes songs in the park”, with the standard response, “tomorrow Demond”.   He also cherished his brother Kevin, creating their “Brother’s Day” holiday in June of each year, enjoying fishing trips and other adventures. He is loved and will be missed by all!

Beloved brother of Arthur (Debbie), Betty, Eileen, Martin (Kathy), Kathleen, Kevin, Demond and the late Edward.  Cherished son of the late Eileen Mary Ford and Arthur Everet Ford. Loving uncle of Sarah & Katie Rose. Dear nephew of Sr. Mary Joan of Arc Spelman.  Visitation will be held Thursday, January 28 th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Charles G. Schmitt Funeral Home, Inc., 3863 Merrick Rd., Seaford,  (2 Traffic Lts. East of Rte. 135).  Mass of Christian Burial Friday 9:30 AM at St. William the Abbot RC Church Seaford, NY.  Interment to follow at St. Charles Cemetery Farmingdale, NY.

Donations in Richard’s memory may be made to Camp Loyaltown, Hunter, NY by visiting the following site: www.camployaltown .org For 20 years Richie's brother, Demond, has attended this respite camp in Hunter, NY.  The camp helps campers of all intellectual and developmental "abilities" discover independence while experiencing the joys of friendship, fun and personal achievement free from challenges they face daily.  Demond loves going to this camp, and starts talking about it in early spring - "I go to Campy Loyaltown!"  The Staff looks forward to seeing him every year, as he is very entertaining.  Donations will provide opportunities for others to attend this camp to experience all it has to offer.
