Hicksville

The Rev. Ronald M. Klose passed away on June 25, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 4, 1951 in Flushing, NY to Max Klose and Marilla (Lampman) and raised in Queens, NY.

A minister for 47 years, Rev. Klose was ordained in December 1978. He studied as a Vicar at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hicksville, NY before being called to the following parishes: Grace Lutheran Church in Auburn, ME from 1978-1985, King of Kings Lutheran Church, in Melville, NY from 1985-1996, and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, in Seaford, NY from 1996-2020. Rev. Klose retired in October of 2020, being awarded the honorary title of Pastor Emeritus.

Rev. Klose also served as a Navy Chaplain, achieving the rank of Captain, from 1983-2009 and was deployed to Djoubti, Africa to support Operation Enduring Freedom in 2002.

He met the love of his life, Karen (Ruff) at church, and celebrated 37 years of marriage in October 2024. Together, they raised two beautiful daughters, and later welcomed two adorable granddaughters into their lives. He resided in Hicksville, NY with his wife and beloved dog Bailey.

He has two daughters. The eldest, Lauren, lives in Fonda, NY with his son-in-law, Timothy, & granddaughters, Matilda & Eleanor. The youngest, Kristen, currently lives in London, England with her partner, Tiffany.

He was a beloved husband, father, Opa, friend, and pastor to many and will be dearly missed for his sense of humor, wise words, and strong faith. Those who knew him best, knew his love for good food, history, & the news, his accordion skills, and that his cabin in the Adirondacks was his happy place.

He is survived by his wife Karen, daughters, Lauren (Timothy), Kristen (Tiffany), granddaughters, Matilda & Eleanor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Max & Marilla.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 28th from 6-8 PM and Sunday, June 29th from 1-3 PM & 6-8 PM.

The Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 30th, 11 AM, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2025 Washington Avenue, Seaford, NY. A private interment will take place at Mountain View Cemetery in Gabriels, New York.
