SCINTA - Ralph Henry, a nearly life-long resident of Seaford, NY passed away on January 10, 2021 at his home of 61 years, at the age of 93. He was the founder and former, long-time owner of Universe Appliance in Seaford. The son of Vincent and Ida (nee Lott) Scinta, Ralph was born June 8, 1927 on Chauncey Street in Brooklyn, not far from where his mother’s family had originally settled in the early 1600’s. He moved with his family to Seaford in 1935. Ralph attended Seaford public schools and graduated from Amityville High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1945, entering the service just a month prior to Japan’s surrender. After being honorably discharged in 1949, he attended Hofstra University before joining the Merchant Marine as an electrician. He started Universe Appliance as a small appliance repair shop, expanding it into a major appliance retailer. Ralph was a former active member and commander of the Jones Beach Power Squadron. In 1962, he helped found the Conservative Party of New York State and served as the Town of Hempstead party chair. He is survived by a brother, Arthur, of Jensen Beach, Florida, a sister, Ida, of Calvary, Georgia, many nieces and nephews and a multitude of devoted and beloved friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Vincent, and a sister, Mary Livermore, both of Massapequa. Reposing Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Charles G. Schmitt Funeral Home, Inc., Seaford (2 Traffic Lts. East of Rte. 135). Religious service Thursday 8 pm at the Funeral Home. Interment St. Charles Cemetery. Donations in Ralph's memory to: United States Navy Memorial, P.O.
