Mary Tyas

Mary Tyas, age 97, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2024.  She was born on October 18, 1926,in Brooklyn, NY, to Salvatore and Angela Indelicato and was the oldest of 4 children including Florence (Saitta), Bernard, and Richard.  She married the love of her life, Edwin Charles Tyas, on September 10, 1950.  Unfortunately, he passed away in 1967 at the age of 39, but with the help of her family and friends, she raised their 3 children, Edwin C. Tyas, Jr., Lynn Pruden, and Joan Kogan as both mom and dad.  She had 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren with another great-grandchild on the way.

Reposing Tuesday, February 27, 2024, 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Charles G. Schmitt Funeral Home, Inc., 3863 Merrick Rd. Seaford, NY (2 Traffic Lts. East of Rte. 135).  Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, February 28, 2024, 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church, Massapequa Park, NY.  Interment to follow at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.
