It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth John Henry Wagner, who died peacefully in his sleep on December 13 at the age of 83. He was a man of many interests and roles and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Kenneth proudly served his country as a United States Naval Reserve member during the Vietnam War. He rose to Quartermaster Second Class (QM2) in the inaugural crew of the newly commissioned USS America (CVA-66). He was on active duty from 1964 to 1966 and received an honorable discharge in 1970.
Kenneth earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Industrial Management from Adelphi University and held various roles throughout his career. He worked as a budget analyst for the Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation, a store manager for Pergament Home Centers, an IT help desk technician, and a campus and corporate security guard.
Kenneth was a lifelong tinkerer and hobbyist. He explored stereos and music, film and digital cameras, and nature photography. His love for amateur CB and ham radio connected him with voices across town and around the globe. Friends knew him as "Raincloud" on the radio waves and "Skywave41" on the internet.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Wendy; sons, Ken and Shannon; their spouses, Angie and Sharon; and sister, Gail. Kenneth was the son of Herbert Wagner and Constance Bauch.
A military burial will be held in Spring 2025, with details to be shared later. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
May he rest in peace, tinkering among the stars.
