John Mikulasko, a devoted brother, uncle, and son, passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s at the age of 93. Blind since his 20s, John never let his condition slow him down. With remarkable determination and independence, he commuted daily from Queens to Brooklyn for work, exemplifying a spirit of resilience and unwavering commitment.
A deeply loving and generous man, John treasured his family above all else. He shared a special bond with his late brother Edward (“Big Ed”), with whom he lived for most of his life. Edward lovingly cared for John until his passing seven years ago. Their home was filled with warmth, Mets games on the radio, and John’s beautiful singing voice — he especially enjoyed singing "Que Sera Sera."
John celebrated his 93rd birthday surrounded by family, including his devoted niece Karen and her family. He found great joy in the presence of his nieces, grand-nieces, grand-nephew and great grand-nephews, who remember him for his gentle spirit and enduring love.
His caregiver, Pam Chapman, was by his side throughout his final years, providing devoted and loving care. She kept her promise to be with him till his final goodbye.
John looked forward to the day he would be reunited with his beloved brother Eddie, his sister Helen, his brother Teddy and his parents. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and resilience.
He will be missed dearly by his niece Karen and her husband Frank, and his grand nieces and nephew: Courtney, Aly, Caitlin and Jonathan. His great-grand nephews Logan and Keegan also held a special place in his heart.
John’s family takes comfort in knowing he is now at peace and reunited with his loved ones.
