Joan B. Winiarski

December 20, 1942 — January 5, 2024

Seaford

Joan was born December 20, 1942, to Catherine and Frank Winiarski.  She was the youngest of 11 children.  Joan grew up in Corona, NY and attended Our Lady of Sorrows School and St. Agnes High School.  She later lived in Weehawken NJ, Lynbrook and Seaford NY.
Joan loved to travel, especially to warm, sunny places.  Family and friends have great memories of the trips taken with her.  Joan was extremely creative and talented at a variety of crafts.  She always had a project going and gifted us all with her beautiful creations through the years.  Joan loved to garden, she was a Jeopardy fanatic (especially during the reign of her guy, Alex Trebek), she enjoyed a good game of cards or Scrabble and she would never say no to pistachio ice cream or peanut butter.

Joan was a woman of great faith and a living example of faith for others.  Family was extremely important to Joan and she visited and sent cards to EVERYONE at every opportunity.  Who wasn't a recipient of a mysterious card signed "Guess who?" or a stop on her "Sunday rounds"?  Joan was there for everyone in need and generous to a fault.
Joan is preceded in death by her dear brothers Edward (Blanche), Francis (Betty), Albert and Thomas and her beloved sisters Anne (Bernard), Margaret (John), Catherine (Walter), and Hattie (Charles), and sister-in-law Mary.  She is survived by her loving brothers Richard (Barbara) and Robert, her sister-in-law Patricia Winiarski, and by dozens of adoring nieces and nephews in whose hearts Joan holds a special place.  Joan is also preceded in death by her dear friend and long time partner in crime, Father Michael Sullivan, and her beloved dog Kerri.
