"Grief is the price we pay for love." -Queen Elizabeth II
At 12:15pm, on December 26th 2022, the world became a little darker. Grace Fleisher, born in June of 1950, passed away after a long battle with an illness. Leaving behind a beautiful legacy, including her children, and five grandchildren– her son Richard, his wife Heather, and their children, Joslyn, Nathaniel, and Nicholas; and her daughter GwenMegan, her husband Jorge, and their daughters Kaylee and Kori. Her grandchildren meant everything to Grace, and she loved them beyond all.
Daughter to Beatrice and Thomas Reynolds, Grace was raised in Queens, and worked for the Brookville Center for Children's Services until she retired. Her love of children was widely known, as she adopted both her son and daughter, raising them to be loved, and to grow up strong and intelligent, just like her.
She leaves behind her sibling, Thomas, his wife Arlene, and their children Craig and Drew. She was known as Gigi to them, and Giga to her grandchildren.
A lover of animals, Grace had a multitude of pets over the years, including Zak and Zoey, two dogs that she adored with all her heart.
She joins her husband, Gary, in Heaven, where she will rest eternally with every pet she's ever had and lost, to one day be joined by the family she cultivated and loved beyond all measure.
Grace was loved by many. She brought warmth and joy to every person she met, creating beautiful memories with her friends and family, and leaving behind a heritage of kindness and humor. Her favorite holiday, Christmas, was always filled with traditions, laughter, and an insurmountable love that will be felt for generations. To those who loved her, it makes sense that she waited until the day after Christmas to pass on; even in her death, she refused to have anything taint the wonder of the Yule season.
The family will be receiving mourners at the Charles G. Schmitt Funeral Home in Seaford, NY (3863 Merrick Rd. - 2 Traffic Lts. East of Rte 135) on Tuesday, January 10th, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.
