FITZGERALD - Gerard, on November 26, 2020, of Massapequa.  Beloved husband of the late Valerie. Loving father of Gerard S.  Dear brother of John and Joseph. Devoted uncle of Jackie, Eva, Gary, Christine, Kerry and Kimberly and caring cousin to Arthur, Constance, Nicholas, Katherine, Anthony, Linda, and Joseph. Long time parishioner of St. William the Abbot RC Church. Gerard thoroughly enjoyed WWII history, was involved with martial arts and enjoyed playing poker. He was also a member of the Harmonica Club and was a longtime sports fan, especially of the Yankees and the Jets, and was a big fan of Mickey Mantle and Joe Namath. "Fitz" enjoyed classic rock, blues music, Led Zeppellin & the Rolling Stones. He also enjoyed classic movies.  His life philosophy and mindstate was that of the "path of the warrior". He was a very generous man who 'did a lot with a little' and was known for being able to relate to anyone. Reposing for memorial visitation on Sunday, 12/6, from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at the Charles G. Schmitt Funeral Home, Inc., 3863 Merrick Rd., Seaford, NY 11783 (2 Traffic Lts. East of Rte. 135).  Memorial mass to be held Monday, 12/7, 9:30 AM at St. William the Abbot RC Church, Seaford.
