PARKER - George L. (1938-2021) Husband.  Father.  Grandfather.  Soon-to-be Great Grandfather.

George lived the fullest life possible. Married to Rita for 60 years, together they had six children. Those six went on to parent sixteen grandchildren and one of those sixteen will start the newest generation of our family this summer.

He graduated from The United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point and began his career with Moore-McCormack Lines. He changed industries to air cargo in the late 1960’s and then started his own ground transportation company in 1971. George distinguished himself as a businessman in all areas of commercial transportation.  He reinvented himself by turning to construction management in 1990 until his retirement.

He presided over every function from his chair in the middle of the living room. From Sunday dinner, football games, or St. Patrick’s Day, he was surrounded by a house full of guests.  He was truly proud to be at the center of the action.

Memorial Visitation to be held Friday, July 9, 2021 from 4-8 pm at the Charles G. Schmitt Funeral Home, 3863 Merrick Road, Seaford, NY (2 Traffic Lts. East of Rte. 135).  A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 10:45 am at St. William the Abbot Church, 2000 Jackson Avenue, Seaford, NY. Disposition private.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital ( https://www.stjude.org ) in his name.
