Eleanor M. Schmitt

It is with great sadness that the Schmitt family announces the passing of their beloved Eleanor M. Schmitt on July 4, 2026. She died peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife and supportive companion of her husband, Charles, for 64 years. She was also actively involved in the family owned funeral home and gave much support to the family business. Mother of Lisa Buenker (Ken) and Curtis (Kathleen). Proud grandmother of Kenny, Christiana, and Gregory. Member of Seaford Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Long time member of the Massapequa Women’s Club/Garden Club and the Unqua Corinthian Yacht Club. Eleanor was a ray of sunshine and happiest when she was around her family, often serving others. One of Eleanor’s most enjoyable pastimes was regularly getting together with close friends over the years to play Mahjong and she enjoyed being on the beach or anywhere near the water. 

Visitation will be held Wednesday, 2-4:30 & 7-9:30 PM at the Charles G. Schmitt Funeral Home, Inc., 3863 Merrick Rd., Seaford, NY. Funeral Service Thursday, 10 AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2025 Washington Ave., Seaford, NY. Entombment will take place at St. Charles Cemetery.
