SHEEHAN – Edward William of Wantagh, NY, was known as many things: Dad, Poppy, Uncle Eddie, Fast Eddie, Bay Bum, but most commonly as friend. At the age of 76 Ed passed away on March 25, 2014 surrounded by his family. Ed, the son of the late Agnes and William Sheehan, was born September 5, 1937 in New York City, NY. Ed was predeceased by the love of his life, wife Marjorie (Ferraro) Sheehan who passed away in 2001. Ed is survived by his 3 daughters: Beth Sheehan and her spouse Darlene Sheehan, Stacy Morris and John Beisner, and Amy Byrne and her husband Joe Byrne. Ed leaves a legacy with his treasured grandchildren: Kevin and Rob Worker, Mollie and Brian Morris, Dan Mullin, Tim, Grace and Liam Byrne and the nephew he loved like a son, Brian Baardsen. Ed also leaves behind his sister Jane Downs, her husband Mike and many nieces and nephews. Ed was a friend to many, a storyteller to most and generous to all. He was an environmentalist and forever an aficionado of the water, particularly his cherished bay house which he shared with whomever wished to experience it. A long time Garden City firefighter, Ed was also a past volunteer for Freeport Fire Department and an honorary member of South Hempstead Fire Department. To know Ed, was to have experienced fun and laughter and to have walked away with new memories. Reposing Thursday 7-9 pm and Friday 1–3 & 5-7 PM at the Charles G. Schmitt Funeral Home Inc., 3863 Merrick Rd., Seaford (2 Traffic Lts. East of Rte. 135). Funeral Service Friday 6 pm at the funeral home.
