Edward G. Gunning, Jr.

Edward Gunning passed away on July 2nd 2026 surrounded by the love of his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be remembered for his kindness, unwavering love for his family, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew him.

Edward was raised in Massapequa, New York, where he attended Saint William the Abbot Elementary School. The values he learned there remained with him throughout his life and were reflected in the way he treated others with compassion, integrity, and generosity.

He shared a loving marriage with his beloved wife of 37 years, Maureen, who was the love of his life. Together they built a family that was the center of his world.

He was a proud and devoted father to his son Edward and daughter-in-law Jackie. Nothing brought him greater joy than being “Papa” to his cherished grandchildren, Thomas and Nora, whom he adored beyond measure. He treasured every moment spent with them and took great pride in watching them grow.

He will be remembered for his warm heart, quiet strength, and the countless memories he leaves behind. Though he will be deeply missed, his love and the example he set will remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

The Gunning family appreciates the love, prayers, and support extended during this difficult time.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15th 2-4 PM & 7-9 PM 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 16th 9:30 AM
