With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Ann Marie Hamill, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, on March 28, 2023, at age 85.
Ann was born on October 15th, 1937, to John Evans and Lydia Cassinelli Evans in Philadelphia, PA. She spent her childhood in Jackson Heights, NY, and then moved to Massapequa, NY, where she spent most of her life. She attended Amityville High School and later became a supervisor with the Massapequa Public Library.
She married her high school sweetheart, Arthur, in 1953 and was happily married until his death in 2022.
Ann was an amazing storyteller who would remember even the smallest detail. She was quick-witted and loved to make people laugh. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Rome and visiting the Sistine Chapel. If she had a theme song, it would have been “My Way” by Frank Sinatra. She could often be found gallivanting around Florida and considered Disney World her second home. Her favorite pastimes were reading, shopping (largely at QVC), going out to dinner, and, above all else, "gabbing."
Ann is survived by her children John Hamill (Alyssa) and Debi Corbett (Michael), her grandchildren Amanda Corbett Safdar (Shawn), Dana Corbett Marsella (Chris), Chelsea Corbett, and Diana Hamill, and her many friends who will miss her dearly. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her son Scott (Colin) in 2021.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, April 14, from 4-7 pm at the Charles G. Schmitt Funeral Home, 3863 Merrick Rd., Seaford, (2 Traffic Lts. East of Rte. 135) where family and friends can come together to celebrate Ann’s life and honor her memory.
